Data Director expands the archive disaster protection capabilities of QStar Archive Managersoftware by providing block-based synchronous mirroring technology. It ensures that data is continuously written to two drives/devices within a site or across the globe. QStar’s Data Director software gives customers the choice of multiple real-time mirroring options that include media mirroring within a single library (DDR1), device mirroring within a single site (DDR2), and site mirroring across multiple geographic locations (DDR3).
In addition, in combination with Data Director, STJ / SDJ (Simulated Tape Jukebox) creates simulated tape or optical media on RAID. Using Data Director to mirror between the real and simulated media a blended archive solution is created; with one mirror on disk and one on tape or optical.
Failover capabilities ensure that if the primary archive cannot be accessed, requests are automatically directed to the secondary archive.
