FURNACE - FILLING IN THE GAPS

Furnace is a new set of film tools for Shake including Wire Removal, Rig Removal, Grain, Deflicker, Steadiness, Retiming, Textures.

Furnace 1.0v3 is now available.
Furnace is a suite of plug-in tools to help film compositors using Shake correct common problems when working on film effects shots. Furnace is the culmination of two years research and development working closely with film effects houses in London.

There are 10 plug-ins: Wire Removal, Rig Removal, Steadiness, Kronos (a retimer), DeGrain, ReGrain, DeFlicker and three texture replications plug-ins.

"Furnace made very light work of removing taut wires from several shots in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. We had no problems with grain and were able to retain transient foreground information which we might have lost, or spent a lot of time recreating, if we had had to use traditional cleanplate techniques. It reduces the time spent on a simple wire removal shot considerably."
